Life & Work with Ozichi Amobi of Highland

by OzicCom 02 Aug 2026 0 comments

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ozichi Amobi.

Hi Ozichi, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I had always been active from a young age, and this continued until I began college where my main form of exercise was walking to class and practicing for the dance team. I realized this was not enough and decided to be more active by consistently going to the gym. Additionally, I formed a hatred for my hair at a young age due to the Eurocentric standard of beauty that exists in America. As a result, I started my hair and wellness page, and since then, have inspired others to embrace and learn to care for their natural hair, and motivated them to prioritize their health. Not only has exercising served as my main source of stress relief, but also as a way for me to give back to the community.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My journey building Hair with Fitness has not been smooth at all. When I first started, I still didn’t have the best relationship with my hair and struggled with posting my own content because I compared myself to other natural hair creators. I still do struggle content-wise, but I have a much healthier relationship with my hair now than I did when I started Hair with Fitness.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am in the medical field, however, I have always gravitated toward anything involving the arts (music, dance, drawing, singing, acting). I hope to continue growing Hair with Fitness, using it as my creative outlet as well as a resource for other looking to start their natural hair and overall wellness journeys.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I wouldn’t consider myself to be a major risk-taker. I tend to weigh the outcomes of my actions for quite some time before I make a decision and act. Risks should be taken, but in moderation. My take is: you win some, you lose some. It should never be “do or die”.
